I am currently at UGA teaching a graduate seminar on the sociology of culture and an undergraduate class on social mobilization in Latin America; and traveling to Venezuela frequently. In March I will be participating in “Understanding Populism and Popular Participation: A New Look at the ‘New Left’ in Latin America” at the Woodrow Wilson Center for Scholars in Washington D.C. In April I will be visiting the Culture and Society Workshop at Northwestern University. From May to July I will be in Venezuela researching religion and political conflict during the presidency of Hugo Chávez. I will also be participating in the LASA Section on Venezuelan Studies miniconference in Caracas at the end of May. I will be returning to the US in August to go to the ASA meetings in Boston.
